Fall is the time for apples and you can read Debra’s article “The Apple” in edibleColumbus.  You can also catch her at the Delaware County Master Gardeners Workshop: “Landscape Design Basics” on Saturday, October 12th at the Columbus State – Delaware Campus.  She will be joining landscape architect Dennis Karem, landscape designer and TV garden host Tom Wood and nurseryman Dave Dannaher to present a day of information anyone who gardens… or would like to.  For registration information check out the Delaware County Master Gardeners Facebook Page.

If black tea is a beverage you enjoy and you would like to know more, Debra will be offering: “Black Tea: The Beverage of Contemplation” at the Ohio Herb Education Center on Saturday, October 19th at 1:00.

Lou Killilea, owner of DeMoyne’s Greenhouse in Columbus, Ohio, recently shared her clever succulent containers for a story, “Thrift Shop Chic”, in Ohio Gardener, Missouri Gardener, Indiana Gardener, Wisconsin Gardener and Pennsylvania Gardener.  She and her daughter Kathy shop thrift stores for second-hand treasures to upcycle as garden containers.  Check out the July/August issue to see their stylish succulents in boots, crocs, lipstick cases, handbags and more.  Also, see Debra Knapke’s post about favorite succulents.

knapke ohio magCongratulations to our “Garden Sage” Debra Knapke who shares her passion for herb gardening in this month’s Ohio Magazine.  On June 22, she will be teaching about herbs as part of the Ohioana Library Association’s “Back to the Garden on Gahanna’s Herbal Trail” tour.  Deb is the author of Herbal Gardening in the Midwest and several other gardening titles.

Check out the Herbal Delights story.  Also catch her on a special live remote edition of WOSU’s All Sides with Ann Fisher on May 10 from 10 a.m. – noon at the Chadwick Arboretum Plant Sale.

  • Michael will present “Celebrate the Seasons — Make Your Garden Festive from Labor Day to Easter” at 3 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 9) at the Home & Garden Show and Holiday Fest at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus.
